About Me.
As a School Social Worker at the Brooklyn School for Music and Theatre, I've been privileged to contribute to our school's transformation in how we approach mental health and student support. My journey began as an outside agency therapist, where I witnessed firsthand the opportunity for more integrated, accessible mental health services in our school. Over the past four years, I've collaborated with our school leadership and Crisis Intervention Team to enhance our multi-tiered support systems, from individual counseling to school-wide wellness initiatives. Working alongside colleagues, I've contributed to developing sustainable support programs including our licensed mental health clinic, student leadership initiatives like Bring Change to Mind Club and Young Women's Empowerment Program, and restorative justice practices. By combining clinical expertise with a deep understanding of educational environments, I support our school community through direct counseling, family engagement, staff capacity building, and student leadership development. Whether greeting students during morning scanning, facilitating mental health awareness activities, supporting families through college transitions, or collaborating with staff on classroom interventions, I remain committed to fostering a culture where emotional wellness is accessible to all.
My philosophy & approach
I believe that every student deserves to be truly seen, heard, and supported without judgment. My approach combines warmth, authenticity, and when appropriate, humor, to create an environment where students feel safe exploring their challenges and discovering their strengths. Through motivational interviewing techniques, I help students become active participants in their own growth journey – recognizing that they are the true experts of their own lives.

As a social worker, I understand that mental health support must address the whole person. Whether a student is struggling with anxiety, exploring their identity, seeking sexual health resources, or navigating relationship challenges, my role is to provide comprehensive, judgment-free support. Through partnerships with our school's CATCH program and other resources, I ensure students have access to the full spectrum of care they need to thrive.

My commitment to restorative justice practices reflects my deeper belief that every challenge presents an opportunity for growth and learning. Rather than focusing on punishment, I help students understand the impact of their choices, repair harm when needed, and develop the skills to make decisions that align with their values and goals.
At the core of my practice is a fundamental respect for each student's journey. While I provide guidance, resources, and support, I trust in my students' capacity to make the best choices for themselves when given the right tools and support. This balance of professional expertise and deep respect for student autonomy creates a therapeutic relationship where real growth can flourish.
